David Sikes
David Sikes graduated from The Citadel in 1966 with a BS in Business Administration. He spent almost 23 years in the US Army, Ordnance Corps serving in Vietnam, Germany, and location through out the United States. He left active duty as a Lieutenant Colonel, Inspector General, in the Washington, DC area. He is a graduate of the US Army Command and General Staff College with graduate studies in Economics.
David spend 15 years working for Computer Sciences Corporation in a variety of management positions primarily supporting Department of Defense offices around Washington, DC. While in the Washington area, Dave helped to reactivate the Citadel Club of Greater Washington, serving in a leadership role for three years. In 1992, with the help of other alumni, he started the first Citadel alumni breakfast meeting, which continues today. He also served as an alumni association director for the Virginia, Maryland, and DC area from 1990-2003.
Returning to Charleston in 2004, he married the Reverend Sherry Owensby-Sikes. Dave has five children: son Mark in Illinois, four daughters Sarah, Tiffany, Erin and Heather in Virginia.
Dave started a third career in 2006 working as a loan originator. He is a member of the SC Mortgage Broker Association, The National Association of Mortgage Brokers, and licensed as a Mortgage Originator in South Carolina.
He is also a member of the Hibernian Society of Charleston, German Friendly Society, Arion Society, Deutscher Bruderliche Bund, The Citadel Alumni Association, Association of the United States Army, and the Veterans of Foreign Wars. His volunteer activity includes church and community. Recreational activities include historical research, reading, gardening and building restoration.
